Our Story

The name Prairie City Crop comes from the nickname given to our hometown of Marshall.  In 1944, Dr. Angie Debo penned the book Prairie City, which was a story of an American Community.  Miss Angie’s hometown was Marshall, and we celebrated her for many years with a week full of activities, which included box suppers, cake walks, and a parade to commemorate Pioneer Days.  Today, Miss Angie’s portrait is displayed in our State Capitol.

Rusty and Debbie started their crop insurance journey selling Crop Hail coverage through their agency, Marshall Insurance Agency, Inc.  As crop coverage options grew, Rusty and Debbie offered more services to the farmers in the community.

Over the years, Marshall Insurance Agency has acquired several additional crop insurance agencies from across the state of Oklahoma. In August 2024, they made the decision to rename the insurance agencies to Prairie City Crop Insurance Services, Inc., or Prairie City Crop for short.
